Cold-Called

It had to happen sometime. A day would come where I had not done the reading and would get called on in class to explain the case. Unfortunately, that day was today.

Prof: (Shuffling through name cards) Would you care to explain Champion v. Ames to the class?

Me: (Several seconds of awkward silence) Can I take a pass for today?

Prof: I don't allow passes.

Me: ..... (Thinking: Okay, well, do you want me to take 10 minutes while the class sits here and read it?)

Prof: I do give opportunities to redeem yourself, but this will be noted. You will be probed extensively on your knowledge of the material next time.

Busted. Oh well. The next two people called on weren't prepared either so I wasn't the only one. Nice wake up call, I guess.
